Memory Care Services

Memory care is a distinct form of long-term skilled nursing that specifically caters to residents with Alzheimer’s diseasedementia and other types of memory problems. Select facilities house coed, separate male and female secured units – also called special care units (SCUs). Senior Living Properties memory care units provide 24-hour supervised care within a separate wing of our residential nursing centers.

What is Alzheimer's?

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia. Symptoms include memory loss, impaired thinking and changes in psychology. This disease is progressive; Alzheimer’s symptoms become more severe with time. Although no cure is known, various healthcare treatments and thoughtful caregiving can improve one’s quality of life. Our Skilled Nursing Care can assist in slowing progression of the disease and ease symptoms.

What exactly is Dementia?

Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning—thinking, remembering, and reasoning—and behavioral abilities to such an extent that it interferes with a person’s daily life and activities. These functions include memory, language skills, visual perception, problem solving, self-management, and the ability to focus and pay attention. Some people with dementia cannot control their emotions, and their personalities may change. Dementia ranges in severity from the mildest stage, when it is just beginning to affect a person’s functioning, to the most severe stage, when the person must depend completely on others for basic activities of living.
